Christoph Keggenhoff is
Domkantor in the Romanesque Cathedral in Speyer, a position he has
occupied since 1991. His work centres around different aspects of
the cathedral music program, and he plays the organ for parish services,
for the Cathedral Chapter, and for Pontifical liturgies in the Cathedral.
In 1995 Mr. Keggenhoff founded the
Schola Cantorum Saliensis, a vocal ensemble that
specializes in performing medieval music, especially Gregorian Chant and
related repertoire.
In 1991 Christoph Keggenhoff became an official organ consultant for the
diocese of Speyer. Since 1992 he has been an elected member of the
advisory board for the Organization of German Organ Consultants
(Vereinigung der Orgelsachverständigen Deutschlands). In this role
he also helps to maintain a list of used organs that are for sale (VOD Forum
Orgelmarkt).
Since 1998 he has taught organ, piano, harmony, ear-training, and
Gregorian chant in the Bishop’s Institute for Church Music in Speyer, a
program that leads to the „C“ Certificate in Church Music. In his
first year in this position, he taught in the Institute‘s Kaiserslautern
location; since 1999 he has taught in the main Institute in Speyer.
In 2000 he became Chairman of the „Verein zur Förderung der Orgelkultur
am Oberrhein e.V.,“ an organization that promotes the organ culture in
the Upper Rhein region as well as in the Alsace (France). This
Society supports and sponsors the work of the „Europäische Orgelakademie am Oberrhein“.
His activities as a concert organist have taken him to different countries
of Western and Eastern Europe, as well as to the United States .He has
released five CDs of organ music and Gregorian Chant on the Organum
Classics label. |
